About Me
Me in a nutshell:
My background is simple: My roots are from Mexico, grew up in South Texas, studied at Eastman and I performed in Washington DC as a military musician. Currently, I am a Spanish and ELL teacher on Lopez Island in the state of Washington.
In the early years, I was not happy to be just another music jock, so I jumped at the opportunity to serve my country in the military. Carrying my horn in one hand and Old Glory in the other, I marched throughout Europe and America making the world a safer place for democracy and Sousa marches.
After 24 years in the Army, I decided to turn in my fatigues and bid farewell to Stars and Stripes Forever. Upon retiring, I decided to take Horace Greeley’s Advice, “Go West!” …and that I did!
I currently make my home in the weird but lovable San Juan Island, Washington. My bride and I are the proud owners of five late model children who somehow managed to survive childhood with us in the driver’s seat.
Despite my best efforts, none of our kids have developed an interest in the pimp lifestyle of the performing arts. Nonetheless, I persist.
